STAFF MENTORING PROGRAMME 2022-23

Award-winning and CPD Accredited Mentoring Programme

The HDN Staff Mentoring Programme (SMP) provides organisations with an amazing value-for-money approach to supporting their workforce with the guidance of an award-winning mentoring social enterprise with deep roots in the social housing sector.  2020 and 2021 showed us how important it is to invest in and support your key asset, staff, to get the best from them and to ensure your organisation thrives during times of huge societal challenge.  Helping people to adapt effectively and take advantage of opportunities also makes good business sense. The programme went from being almost entirely delivered face-to-face to 100 per cent virtual in response to the pandemic restrictions. To capitalise on some of the gains made, we have made some permanent changes to how the SMP is delivered. For the 2022-23 programme, we will promote a hybrid approach to learning opportunities, to reduce barriers and maximise participation.

The programme still offers:
  • Opportunities to engage with and be mentored by experienced, senior professionals from related and across sectors.
  • Opportunities to build networks/relationships with colleagues from different organisations regionally and nationally in the sector.
  • Increased confidence, self-awareness, resilience and a forum to address challenges.
The programme is suitable for:
  • Staff, up to and including first line management level, who would benefit from the full programme of one-to-one meetings with a mentor and group workshops.
  • Staff from any background facing barriers to development and career progression, perhaps isolated from others because of their role and ready to take advantage of the opportunity the SMP presents.
The programme includes:
  • A Programme Briefing and Mentoring Skills session for Mentees and Mentors at the start of the programme.
  • Five meetings with a mentor.
  • Four accredited, online group workshops; new for 2022 is their national delivery, with one set of dates, facilitated by a mix of HDN staff and associates.

Mentoring for HDN provides a practical opportunity for the Housing Leaders of tomorrow, whilst helping to tackle barriers to progression for underrepresented talent.
